December! wow

Ok, so I blinked and it became December! how on earth did that happen? My blogging has been limited (well non-existent) as I've been so manic and my son came down with Mumps on 26th November an entire week off school and my Dad's surprise 60th Birthday Party to arrange! Phew! Tog College was also cancelled last week as my tutor was unwell.

So excuses out of the way, I've had a fantastic few weeks, really pushing myself with my photography and loving every minute of it. Lots of street photography but most fun of all recently was the Ice Queen themed shoot I went on with a load of Photographers, it was amazing so I am going to blog all about it this evening.

It was organised by the lovely Claudia of Claudia Rose Carter Photography and sponsored by Aspire Photography Training

8am on the morning of Saturday 3rd December, I hopped onto a train at Northampton station armed with my beautiful new Cheeky Lime Camera bag, Cannon, 50mm lens, leather gloves and a gilet.... and nibbled on a cheese and ham croissant. I was excited and nervous, although I had met Claudia and a couple of others there were going to be several Pro-Togs, plus models and make up artists.

We met up at Sloane Square station then on to the coffee shop where we chatted and giggled and waited for all the Togs to arrive. We took a walk then down to Battersea Park in a Mass Tog Convoy, as we approached the bridge there were some Santas from the recently finished Santa run and I couldn't resist a couple of shots!

We were shooting in Battersea Park, of which we had five models and four scenes to photograph. My team leader was the beautiful Julia of Modern Photographic. We were split off into pairs in our groups and each group was at a one scene at a time. The pairs within the group took it in turns to have a four minute slot posing and shooting the models. Whilst waiting for the models to arrive we had a play around with ideas and positions for shooting... and took some "profile pic" shots of each other too!

I thought I would share two of my own favourite images from the day. There are more on my new facebook page
Casey Avenue Photography. I will be launching my website soon too!!

Well what a learning curve the day turned out to be. It's so great to meet up with so many other creatives for a start! It was my first time shooting models too, directing them into poses was fun and certainly got easier with each scene. It was such a giggle, immensely inspiring and a whole load of awesomeness for a Saturday afternoon!

After all the scenes were photographed by each group we headed up to the venue for the talks which were held by Julia @ Modern Photographic, Catherine Connor @ Aspire Training, Melissa Love @ Melissa Love Designs and Gary Lashmar @ Marshal Gray Photography. I'm absolutely gutted to say I missed the latter three due to hot-footing it back to Northampton in time for my Dad's 60th Birthday Party!

I will try and catch up with some more blogs over the weekend, I have some great street photography to share with you too.
